Herman Housner

MALAD —Herman Housner, age 90, passed away at Oneida County Hospital Friday, April 6, 2001, after a short illness. He was born May 1910, in Downey, Calif., to Herman and Elizabeth Housner. He was reared and educated in California. He played shortstop on his high school baseball team and semi-pro baseball after graduation.
He worked in various occupations in southern California, including ownership of a small trucking company. He moved to Idaho and later married Ella Edwards Gillie on Nov. 19, 1949, and resided in Malad, Idaho.
He was a self-employed painting contractor until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, art, music and especially his flower garden. He was active in the Malad Masonic Lodge and held various leadership positions. He was active in the Democratic Party for many years, and he was a member of the Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Ella; three stepsons, Dale R. Willie (Donna), Pocatello; Fred L. Willie (Cheryl), Montpelier; and Daniel L. (Mont) Willie (Sonja) of Twin Falls; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Victoria Muff; and several nieces and nephews in California.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters and one brother. He will be missed by us all.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2001, at Malad LDS Fifth Ward at 12 noon. Viewing will be held at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, today, April 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday, April 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Malad City Cemetery.
