Mrs. Mary Corbridge is Oneida Nominee for 1950 Idaho Mother

Mrs. Mary Corbridge, mother of nine living children and outstanding church and civic worker, is Oneida County’s candidate for Idaho Mother of 1950. 

Mrs. Corbridge was unanimously nominated by the Oneia County War Mothers and the Malad Stake Relief Society, Mrs. Nellie Gleed, chairman of the county selection committee, reports. Judges are making their choice in Pocatello this week. 

Born at Bountiful, Utah, Mrs. Corbridge has held offices in different L.D.S. church organizations for 48 years. Included in these are 18 years as a Relief Society theology teacher. Educated in Salt Lake City, where she attended the L.D.S. College, Mrs. Corbridge came to Malad 19 years ago with her husband, L. G. Corbridge, and family. Since that time she has been active in 4-H work, and has been a member of the Fine Arts Club, Oneida War Mothers, and Parent-Teachers Association. She held offices in each of the latter two.  

Her children include Ivan, a Washington State College instructor and member of the LDS Bishopric at Moscow, Idaho, who served as a major in the U.S. Army during World War II, and previous to military service, fulfilled an LDS mission in Australia; Mrs. Marie Taylor, homemaker at Dillon, Montana, former Utah State Agricultural student and excellent seamstress; Mrs. Christie Bastian, Pleasantview, homemaker and former employee of the Walker Bank in Salt Lake City and the J.N. Ireland Bank in Malad; Eldeon, who served in the Texas-Louisiana LDS Mission, a former USAC student and Sunday school superintendent in the Malad Third Ward; Dale, a former U.S. Marine serving in the South Pacific duringWorld War II, who has fulfilled an LDS mission in Canada and attended the USAC at Logan; Lon, a U.S. Army veteran who also served in the LDS Canadian mission field; Mollie, a junior at the USAC who has served as president of the Spurs, national service sorority, and been elected the typical freshman girl, sweetheart of Lambda Delta and homecoming queen at the Utah school; Lorraine, a USAC freshman who is a member of the school’s chorus, Lucille, a Malad High School senior, who is assistant editor of the school’s yearbook and was named the Malad delegate to the Future Homemakers of America convention at Santa Barbara, California last year. 

Mrs. Corbridge has six grandchildren.
