Malad……Rosa Karine Wursten Hill, 96 of Malad, returned to the side of her sweetheart on April 10, 2010. She passed away in the city of her birth, Logan, Utah. She was born to John and Rosa Von Niederhausen Wursten on January 6, 1914. Mom grew up in a tiny home in North Logan with her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. One of her favorite memories was riding in a horse-drawn sleigh to the Logan LDS Temple for her baptism. She graduated from the Agricultural College (USU) with a two year teaching degree, and she taught elementary school in North Logan, Benson and Price, Utah. Karine married David Mathew Hill on June 30, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. They raised their five children and ranched in Daniels and Malad, Idaho. Mom was a lifetime learner. After Dave died on March 26, 1966, she returned to college, graduating with her B.A. degree in Education in June of 1969. Besides raising a family and learning to manage a farm, mom had many interests which included gardening, reading, quilting and cooking. She was gracious to all who knocked on her door. Karine was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she spent a lifetime of service in many callings. She found great joy in serving others. Mom was a full time missionary from 1980-1982 in the Houston, Texas mission. Karine is survived by all five of her children and their spouses; Rosemary (Garry) Thomas of Pocatello, ID.; David Stephen (Susan) Hill of Bountiful, UT.; Renae Hill of Ogden, UT.; Eileen (Derrel) Clarke of Logan, UT.; Elvin John (Susan) Hill of Antioch, CA. She is also survived by one brother and two sisters: Ervin Von Wursten, Rahcel Ann Winslow and Evelyn May Huppi. Mom received great joy from her 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and had a special relationship with each of them. She leaves us all a legacy of unwavering faith and hard work. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dave, and three brothers; John Luther, Edgar Charles and Arnold Lee. Two grandchildren; Mathew Garry Thomas and Kristen Hill, also welcomed her home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 15, 2010 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 6th Ward Chapel, 200 W. 400 N. Friends may visit with the Hill family on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W. 300 N. and on Thursday at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 am. at the Horsley Funeral Home.
