Duluth Apgood Allen, 89, passed away September 12, 2001 in Ogden, Utah. She was born October 24, 1911 in Malad, Idaho to Frank L. and Sarah Dudley Apgood and the oldest of 9 children. She graduated from Malad High School and worked as a bookkeeper in the Evans Co-op. On September 7, 1937 she married Frank Allen in the Salt Lake Temple. During their married life they lived in Moscow, Idaho Seattle and Spokane, Washington. They returned to Malad in 1954 to run the Allen Farm until his death in 1982. Since 1983, Duluth has resided with her sister in Ogden, Utah.
Duluth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Spokane and Malad. One of her greatest pleasures was sending cards and notes to the missionaries from the ward and the Allen and Apgood families.
She is survived by her daughters. Stephanie Allen of Hawthorne, CA and Darlene Althouse of Twin Falls, ID and one grandson, Ira Allen Althouse, also of Twin Falls. She is also survived by a brother, Pharen M. Apgood of Salt Lake City and sister, Gerane Apgood of Ogden.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2001, at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, Idaho. Viewing will be Sunday, 6 to 7 p.m. and Monday, 1:30 TO 2:45. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Primary Children’s Hospital.
