Alex Seth Hill, Jr

Alex Seth Hill Jr. passed away Sunday December 6th [2009] in Gainesville, VA at the age of 59. He was born May 16, 1950 in Soda Springs, Idaho to Alex Seth Hill and Edythe Kathryn Nelson. He was the oldest of seven children. Alex graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1968 and enlisted in the Navy in November 1969. He married Kristi Bosworth on July 17, 1970. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors of Science in Physics. He also earned a Masters degree in Business Administration.

After he was commissioned an officer in the Navy he flew P3 Orion’s for most of his career. He retired from the Navy with the rank of Captain in 2001 after 32 years of service. He loved the Navy, flying all over the world, and serving his country.

Most recently Alex worked for Aerovironment as their Vice President of Business Development. He was dedicated to Aerovironment and loved working for them.

Alex had a great love for the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and golfing. His Saturday morning pancakes were a family favorite.

Alex was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings including Bishop, Scoutmaster, and in the young men’s organization. He loved going on camping trips and sharing his knowledge and love of the outdoors with the youth. He touched many lives through his service and faith.

Alex was preceded in death by his mother, Edythe. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kristi, his two sons Alex and Kirtis, and as he lovingly referred to them a “pile of grandbabies” Emma, Olivia, Landry, Abigail, Jackson, and Avery. Alex was a devoted husband, father, and “Baga” to his six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in Gainesville, Virginia on Thursday December 10th at the Gainesville LDS Chapel, and on Monday December 13th at the LDS Chapel in Downey, Idaho. There will be a viewing from 10-11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at noon. Burial will follow in the Cambridge Cemetery.
