Merle Leon Neal
Our dear father and grandfather and loved one. Merle Leon Neal passed away at age 85, Feb. 17, 1993, at the home of his son Charles Lee Neal who resides in Yakima, Wash.
He was born Aug. 14, 1907, in Stone, Idaho. He married Lorraine Decker of Pocatello, Idaho in the Salt Lake Temple, Oct. 3, 1934.
He is survived by a sister, Ella Talbot and a brother, Dwane Neal, also by his children, Merlene Hurd, Alamo, Nev.; Glenys Browning, Woods Cross; Donna Nish, SLC; C. Lee Neal, Yakima, Wash.; Paul Neal, Provo, Utah; Rada Cheney, Magna, Utah and Julie Neal, SLC, Utah. He has 39 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was a home teacher all his life. He was a part of the Elder’s Quorum and M.I.A. presidencies. He served two stake missions and as ward clerk in seven different bishoprics and also as second counselor. He was ward genealogist and temple work was his greatest joy and endeavor. He enjoyed farming and ranching. Basketball, boxing, baseball and wrestling were his favorite sports. Music, dancing, public speaking, friends and fun are what he enjoyed most.
His family came first. We love you daddy and are thankful for your life well lived.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 11 a.m. at the Snowville LDS Ward Chapel, Snowville, Utah. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rogers-Taylor Funeral Home in Tremonton. Interment Snowville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Myers Mortuary, Layton, Utah.
