Steven Barney, born on May 11, 1948, to Roma Bell Henry and Wayne F. Barney, departed from this world on April 21st, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories. His sudden passing has deeply saddened all who knew him.
Steven’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, his career, and his passions. He shared his journey with his beloved spouse Brenda Maurine Willden, whom he married on January 19, 2001, and with his children: Troy Barney, Kory Barney, Casey Barney (with Angie), Joey Hauschidt (with Donna), Zachary Hauschildt (with Cheryl), Nicole Andrus Raza, and Levi Andrus. 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Steven’s love and devotion extended beyond his immediate family to his siblings: Irene Gardner, Robert Barney, Leslie Barney, Roma Lee Peterson, and Michele Harris. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lynette Barney (1966 – 1988), his parents, and sister Sherry.
Throughout his life, Steven pursued excellence in his career. He began as an aircraft mechanic at Hill AFB, where his dedication and skill propelled him to the role of Environmental Specialist. His commitment to his work earned him numerous awards and accolades, reflecting his passion for making a positive impact.
Steven was a graduate of Bonneville High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with purpose and achievement. His love for the outdoors led him to enjoy hunting and fishing, especially cherished moments spent with his sons and grandchildren. He found solace and joy in farm life, dedicating years to running a cow/calf operation in Idaho. Steven also enjoyed having lots of animals. He had the perfect lap for many dogs and cats.
His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in spending time with them, whether it was riding four-wheelers or golf carts, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
A funeral service to honor Steven’s life will be held on April 30, 2024, at the Ogden Community of Christ. The viewing will commence at 10:30 AM, followed by the service at noon. Burial will take place at Lindquist Mortuaries and Cemetery in Ogden, where Steven will be laid to rest alongside his loved ones. Following the burial, a lunch will be provided at the church, offering an opportunity for friends and family to come together in remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived. In Steven Barney’s passing, we mourn the loss of a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and esteemed colleague. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Steven’s name to Eastern Idaho Down Syndrome Family Connect, whose mission and programs reflect Steven’s love and care for his sister Sherry.
