Thomas Arbon was born in Gravely, Cambridgeshire, England 11 July 1853. He married Sophia Catmull 14 November 1878, also from Gravely, England. When they arrived in Utah, Thomas Arbon went to Logan and worked for William Toombs on the railroad for a time or until his son “Thommy” was born. He was born on the 26th of December 1881. His wife Sophia Catmull deserted him and their young son. William Toombs and his wife, Martha Arbon cared for young Thomas Arbon until his death the 9th of September 1893. So Thomas Arbon spent all the time he could at the Toombs home.
After a short time he went on the railroad in Nevada with his home in Sparks. Every time he came back to the valley he would come to my father’s home in Benson to visit.
After he retired from the railroad he spent all of his time with us. I remember what a kind person he was and liberal to a fault.
He was living with us in Logan where he passed away on the 5th of January 1930. His services were held in Logan and he was buried in the Logan Cemetery by the side of his son Thomas.
A short history I remember of Grandmother Martha Toomb’s brother, Thomas Arbon.
