MALAD, Idaho — Georgia Marteal Wight Hendricks, 85, of 52 Bush Ave., died Monday, July 6, 1987, in a local nursing home of causes incident to age.
She was born June 27, 1902, in Richmond, Utah, a daughter of Joseph Martin and Hilma Adamson Wight.
She was reared and educated in Richmond and was a graduate of North Cache High School.
She married Samuel Allen Hendricks July 3, 1920, in Richmond. The marriage was later solemnized- Sept. 22, 1921, in the Logan LDS Temple. He died June 26, 1981.
She had lived in Logan, Montpelier and Downey, Idaho. In 1933, the family moved to Malad where she had since resided.
While in Malad, she and her husband owned and operated Hendrick’s Department Store.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served on the stake Relief Society board, was stake music director, and a visiting teacher. She served two missions as mission mother in Billings, Mont., and Royalton, Vt.
She taught piano for many years and had been an accompanist and director of music groups in the community.
She was a charter member of the Malad Fine Arts Club, a member of the Ladies Literary Club, and of the Malad Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Surviving are one son and three daughters, Samuel Allen Hendricks Jr., Overland Park, Kans.; Mrs. Gordon (Betty) Crowther, Mrs. Carl (Carol Dawn) Willie, both of Malad, Idaho; Kathryn Moon, Ogden; 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at noon in the Malad LDS 2nd Ward Chapel with Bishop Gordon Crowther officiating.
Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 and Thursday prior to services.
Interment will be in the Richmond, Utah, Cemetery Thursday at 4 p.m.
