LaMont Hess
June 22, 1940 – October 16, 2023

Lyle LaMont Hess, 83, of Soda Springs, Idaho, died peacefully at Heritage Assisted Living with his daughter by his side on October 16, 2023.

Mont was born in Malad, Idaho on June 22 1940, to Lyle Eldon Hess Ruth Daniels Hess.   

In 1962, Mont married Melinda Eagle and they later divorced. They had two children, Jeannette and Mont.  Mont found the love of his life and married Nancy Ann Wilber on February 15, 1978 in Soda Springs, ID. 

Mont grew up in Malad, Idaho and attended Utah State University where he played football “with some of the best”.  He worked at the Sinclair in Malad at a gas station in Logan while attending school.  He then went to work at Thiokol and then to Boise Cascade in Malad.  Mont’s next job took him to Soda Springs to work for Monsanto, where he retired in 1996 after 30 years. 

You could always find Mont laughing and teasing everyone he knew.  He loved visiting with family and friends and always shared yet another antic that we hadn’t heard before.   He enjoyed fishing, raising his chickens, reading and watching football. 

LaMont is survived by his daughter Jeannette (Warren) Westbrook of Soda Springs ID, Mont Hess (Bradie) of Afton WY. Dan Wilbur of California, and Bill (Cheryl) Wilbur of Las Vegas NV, his grandchildren Tara Passey, Sara Potter (Jerad), Kassie Hess, Jessica Hess, Sami Hess, Hazen Hess, Special Grandchildren: Ryan (Amber) Wilbur, Jennifer (Jerry) Lura, Coby Wilbur, Cole (Karli) Ryan Jacezik,and 16 Great Grandchildren.

Lamont is preceded in death by his forever love Nancy, his parents and his sister Julie Hess.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
