MALAD- William Griffiths Hawkings, 86, of Elko, Nevada and formerly of Malad, passed away Sunday, July 14, 1996 in Boise.

He was born January 22, 1910 in Malad, a son of Ephraim Thorpe and Rachel Griffiths Hawkins.

He married Blanche Marie Groves, and they later divorced.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. Mr Hawkins has lived in Emmett, McCall and for many years had resided in Elko.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Joan) Terry, of Oakdale, Calif., and Mrs. Alvin (Beverley) Thomsen, of Eagle, Idaho; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Ephraim Hawkins and Farrell Hawkins, both of Murray, Utah; one sister, Mrs. Thella Doss, of Malad; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelma Hawkins, of Malad; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 17, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Malad City Cemetery
