Fred Harrison

FRED HARRISON return to his Heavenly Father on November 3, 2016, in Burley Idaho. He was born 3 June 1921 in Bancroft Idaho. The son of Bartholomew Harrison and Morinda Martina Larsen. He was the fourth of seven children, two older brothers, Eveard, & Stanford 2 older Sisters, Blanche (Higbee), and Edris (Beck), and two younger sisters, Anna (Steel) and Ollie Jean who died in infancy. The family later moved to Downey Idaho where Fred attended School. He graduated from Downey High School and attended Trade School at ISU in Pocatello where he studied Auto mechanics.

During his school years he met Bersha Layton. They were married 30 September 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was drafted in the army in 1943 and served as an Auto Mechanic for the Army Air Corp on Sipan and Guam. He was discharged 26 December 1945.

He returned to Downey where he built his home near his parents, where he and Bersha raised their 7 children. James Fred (Rena)Harrison, Carol Jean Teague, Elwin Dale Harrison, Lucile (Robb) Dansie, LaDean Harrison, Nedra (Dick) Andersen, and Daryl L. (Jeri Lyn) Harrison.

Fred drove a Milk truck, worked as an Auto mechanic, worked at the Grain Elevator, and as the Custodian at Downey Elementary and Downey Jr. High.

Fred and Bersha were active in the LDS Church and served in many capacities. After he retired they served a Mission in the Hartford Connecticut Mission. Their job has to Microfilm Records for the Genealogy Department. Their work took them north to Vermont and to the west side of New York, and everywhere in between. After they returned they served as workers in the Logan Temple.

Later because of Bersha’s health they moved to Caldwell to be near their daughter Lucile.

They have 34 Grandchildren, 64 Great Grandchildren, and 1great great granddaughter.

Fred is proceeded in death by his wife Bersha, his parents, and all his siblings, a son-in-law Bob Teague, 2 daughter in-laws, Mary Lou (Jim) and Kathy (Elwin), 1 Grandson, Tyrel Hallstrom, 1 Grand daughter, Teona Harrison and 1 great grand daughter Mcckinley Harrison.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 12 noon in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with the family at the church Saturday morning from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Downey C
