Loyal Green Harris

PORTAGE — Loyal Green Harris, 78, of 8765 W. 25800 N., died Friday, Feb. 5, 1988, at his home of cancer.
He was born April 6, 1909, in Portage, to Robert C. and Sylvia Green Harris.
He married Martha Louisa Lemon Nov. 6, 1929 in the Logan LDS Temple. She died March 24, 1982. He married Hazel Morris Hawks April 1, 1983 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He was reared in Portage and lived there most of his life.
He attended school in Brigham City and Logan. He was a graduate of the National Electrical School of Los Angeles, Calif.
He owned and operated Harris Machine and Welding in Portage.
He was a high priest in the Portage LDS Ward, and had served as bishop of the Portage LDS Ward from 1940 to 1946. He had served as high councilman in the Malad Stake and as president of the High Priest Quorum of the Malad Stake.
Surviving are his widow of Portage, one son and two daughters, Stephen Loyal Harris, Portage; Mrs. Charles (Noma) Sharp, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ray (Gayla) Sessions, Boulder, Colo.; one stepson and one stepdaughter, J.D. Hawks, Rexburg, Idaho; Mrs. Chris (Julee) Perry, Stockton, Calif.; 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers and one sister, Alvin Harris, Logan; Wayne Harris, Kaysville, Devere Harris, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Douglas (Verna) Laws, Layton.
He was preceded in death by one daughter.
Services will be conducted Tuesday 12 noon at the Portage Ward Chapel with Bishop Larry L. Howell officiating.
Friends may call Monday at Rogers Mortuary, 111 N. First East, Tremonton, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
