
Fred Willie
Fred Larry Willie, born September 11, 1937 in Malad, Idaho passed away peacefully at his home on March 23, 2016 surrounded by his family at the age 78.
Fred was the middle child of three boys born to Dale H. and Ella E. Willie. He grew up in the Malad area. He later served his country in the Navy. On June 17, 1966 he married the love of his life Cheryl Wakley. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this June. Fred enjoyed the outdoors and many activities including golfing, 4-wheeling, camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was always willing to travel anywhere with whoever would go. Fred never met a stranger and welcomed everyone. Fred worked at Thiokol for many years and then ventured out to start his own business. He operated the Conoco gas station in Pocatello, Idaho from 1968 to 1980. Fred then had the opportunity to own and operate the Ranch Hand Track Stop, Park Motel and rental homes throughout the Bear Lake Valley. Due to health reasons he retired in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Wakley Willie; three children, Karen (Troy) Passey, Michael (Becky) Willie, Alison (Jarrod) Passey; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Dan (Sonya) Willie; sister-in-law, Donna Willie; mother-in-law, Larry (Bumalene) Wakley, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Herman Housner, and brother Dale.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1st, 2016 at the Montpelier South Stake Center, 485 South 7th street, with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at the Malad City Cemetery that day at 3:30 p.m.
