Vella Ann Daley Woods obit

WOODS, VELLA ANN, June 10, 1938 – July (?), 2004

BRIGHAM CITY – Vella Ann Daley Woods was born on June 10, 1938 in Malad, Idaho to Barbara Hickman Smith and Lot Smith. Vella was the first of three children to that union, followed by Philip then Barbara. When her mother married Elden Daley in 1945, she began a new life in California. She was later adopted by her dad, Elden Daley.

Vella attended school in Stone, Idaho, then Compton, California. She married Charles Everett Woods December 15, 1956 in Bellflower, CA. They were blessed with four girls: Kathy Ann (Barry) Anderson, Downey, ID; Connie L. (Lynn) Anderson, Snowville, UT; Sheryl Jean (Kent) Taylor, Logan, UT; and Nadene Johnson (Bill Kaufman), Whitehall, MT. Everett passed away in 1972. Vella brought her girls back to Utah that year.

In her early years she worked for the telephone company and later when her children were old enough she worked for Bountiful Nursing Home. Because of her health problems, Vella was very active in the Brigham City House.

Vella was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a caring daughter, loving sister, giving mother and grandmother, favorite aunt and a good friend to many. She loved to be with her family and friends. She loved to go to dances, cook, paint and draw.

Vella is survived by her four daughters: Kathy, Connie, Sheryl and Nadene, 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, her brother, Phillip H. (Trudy) Daley, AZ; sister, Barbara Jones, Bountiful, UT and her good friend Steve Hess. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother-in-law, Jim Jones.

Funeral services will be held July 21, 2004 at Myers Mortuary, Brigham City, UT. Interment will be in the Snowville cemetery.
