Martha Hannah Bench Halford

Martha Hannah Bench Halford, 73, died Thursday, July 30, 1992, in the Manor Care of South Ogden.
She was born March 1, 1919, in Logan, daughter of Edwin Harry and Bell Harris England Bench. She married Charles Marc McCann, March 10, 1937, in the Logan LDS Temple; they later divorced. She married Royal EuVene Halford, June 7, 1947 in Elko, Nev.; he died June 6, 1992.
Mrs. Halford had lived in College Ward (West Logan), Twin Falls, Ida.; Smithfield, Plymouth, Portage, and moved to Garland Oct. 9, 1964. She received her diploma from Bear River High School in 1969.
She had worked as a custodian of the Portage LDS Ward and as a Nurse’s Aide in the Valley Hospital in Tremonton. She had been Vice Pres. Of the Portage PTA And was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and AARP. She will always be remembered for the beautiful quilts and handiwork she created for her children and grandchildren.
Martha was a member of the LDS Church and had served as a Primary teacher and Visiting Teacher.
Surviving are 3 sons and 1 daughter and their spouses, Marc LaVar and Odean McCann, Smithfield; Rosalye and LaVar Smith, Kearns; Wendell Dee and Sharon McCann, Garland; John Edwin and Bonnie Rae Clark, North Ogden; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Elsie Fay B (Herbert) Hendershot, Napa, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, Darren McCann, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Garland Ward Chapel with Bishop Steve Butler officiating.
Burial in Logan City Cemetery.
