MALAD – Thomas Vernon Roberts, age 74, of 267 South Main, Malad, Idaho died Monday [September 15, 1986] of a sudden heart attack.

He was born September 14, 1912 in Malad, Idaho a son of David Morgan and Emma Katherine Aegerter Roberts.

He grew up and was educated in Malad. He married Var C’ Jensen August 9, 1942 in Malad, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple August 6, 1965.

He had worked as a farm laborer for the Oneida County Road crew and for several years was employed with the State Highway Department. He was a veteran of WWII and was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife of Malad and one son Marvin Daryle Roberts, West Valley, Utah; three daughters Mrs. Lynn (Vernona) Pace, West Valley, Utah; Mrs. Perry (Marlene) Bailey, Weboux, Montana; Mrs. Tom (Gayle) Swan, Samaria, Idaho. Ten grandchildren, one brother David F. Roberts, Lewiston, Utah. Two sisters Mrs. Stella Brodie, Pocatello, Idaho and Mrs. Elgin (Gladys) Rose, Magna, Utah.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 12 noon in the Malad LDS Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Howard May officiating. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 14, 1912 in Malad, to David Morgan and Emma Katherine Aegerter Roberts. He grew up and was educated in Malad and had been a lifetime area resident. As a young man, he worked as a farm laborer.

He married Var C’ Jensen Aug. 9, 1942 in Malad. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple Aug. 6, 1966.

He served in the armed forces during World War II.

Mr. Roberts had worked on the Oneida County road crew and for several years was employed with the State Highway Department.

He was a member of the LDS Church and held the office of elder. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Malad; one son, Marvin Daryle Roberts, West Valley, Utah; three daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Vernona) Pace, West Valley; Mrs. Perry (Marlene) Bailey, Weboux, Mont.; Mrs. Tom (Gayle) Swan, Samaria; 10 grandchildren; one brother, David F. Roberts, Lewiston, Utah; and two sisters, Mrs. Stella Brodie, Pocatello; and Mrs. Elgin (Gladys) Rose, Magna, Utah.
