Funeral Rites For Mrs. Sam Price
Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Gleed Williams Price, 82, a pioneer and lifelong resident of Malad Valley, who died Sunday [July 15, 1951] at her daughter’s home in Logan following a cerebral hemorrhage, were held at the Malad LDS Second ward chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Bishop A. G. Willie conducting.
The prayer at the home was offered by E. N. Crowther; invocation, Josiah Price; benediction, Hubert Gleed; dedication of grave, LaVen Williams. Miss Irene Atkinson played the prelude and postlude. The speakers were; J. M. Isaacson, Wm. H. Rutter. Bishop Willie read the obituary and gave remarks. The musical numbers consisted of vocal duet, Gwendlyn Ward and June Ward; vocal duet, Mollie and Eldon Corbridge accompanied by Lucille Corbridge; duet, Theda Pilgrim and Fay Hansen; violin selection, Fern Willie; War Mothers, resolutions of condolence was read by Laura Jones.
Mrs. Price was born August 7, 1868 in Wales and came to America with her parents and family of seven brothers and sisters when she was just a baby. The family arrived in Malad Valley in June, 1869. In January 4, 1886, she became the wife of Samuel Williams, and of this union, two children were born; Edward G. Williams, and Mrs. Tillie Hansen. Her son, Edward G., a former Malad mayor, died in 1950. Her husband died in 1888 and she was married to Sam W. Price, Feb. 4, 1892, and to this union, eight children were born. Mr. Price died August 10, 1949.
Mrs. Price was a charter member of the Oneida County War Mothers and an active member of the Daughters of Idaho Pioneers, Chapter 4.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters; John L., Malad; S. Willard, Greenich, Conn.; Lorin, Malad; and Thain Price, Boise; Annie Daniels, Malad; Mary Peterson, Logan; Faun Bealer, Empire, Oregon; 36 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
