Funeral held Monday for Mrs. Price, age 83

Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Mary Hughes Price, age 83 who died Friday [21 Mar 1969] at the Oneida Hospital of natural causes.

Bishop Lon W. Corbridge conducted the services at the Malad Third LDS Ward Chapel. Family prayer at the funeral home was offered by John W. Price; invocation at the Chapel by Dale A. Evans and the benediction by Bishop Jesse Hughes. Speakers were Bishop Corbridge, Lloyd Sorensen, LaMar Thomas and Dana Benson who read a life sketch. Musical numbers were a vocal solo, Eldon Corbridge; trio, Helen Jones, Wanda Edwards, Miriel Dredge; duet, Leora Brown and Foster Ipsen with Myra Jean John as accompanist. Prelude and postlude music were played by Pearl Stuart.

Dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery was offered by Raiford G. Benson. Flowers were arranged by members of Malad Third LDS Ward, Ida Smith, president. Casket bearers were Neal Gleed, Lorin Talbot, Larry Larsen, Leonard Hughes, Marion Price and Duain H. Cowley.

Interment was directed by Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Price was born March 3, 1886, at Samaria, a daughter of Taliesin and Jane Mason Hughes.

She was marired[married] to John William Price, Dec. 15, 1909, in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Price died Dec. 25, 1963.

Mrs. Price received her education in the Samaria and Pleasantview schools. She was a graduate of Wilson Tailoring College, Logan.

She and her husband homesteaded in Weston Creek from 1909 to 1915; they purchased a farm closer to Malad on Deep Creek and in 1919 moved to Malad City.

Active in the LDS Church, Mrs. Price served as work director in the Relief Society presidency, Relief Society visiting teacher more than 50 years and in the Primary.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Estella) Gleed, Malad; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Edward Hughes, Malad; Mrs. Sara Cowley, Benson Ward, Cache, Utah; Mrs. Isabella Hess, Fielding, Utah.
