Funeral Monday for Mrs. Ruth McGee

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Owens McGee, 71, who died at Lava Hot Springs Thursday at 11 p.m. of a heart ailment, were held at the Malad Second Ward chapel Monday afternoon with Bishop Jesse Hughes in charge.

The prayer at the home was offered by Thomas D. Evans, the invocation was by Dr. Thomas W. Richards and the benediction was by Russel Daniels. The prelude and postlude were played by Mrs. Pauline Atkinson. The speakers were W.W. Thomas and J.P. Jensen. Herold Thomas gave the obituary. The musical numbers were a vocal duet, June and own Ward; instrumental duet, Pauline Atkinson and Fern Willie; vocal solo, J.Guy Gleed. Interment was in the Malad cemetery with Guy Benson dedicating the grave.

Mrs. McGee, whose home was in Daley City, Calif, was visiting relatives in Idaho at the time of her death.

Mrs. McGee was born Aug. 16, 1879 in Malad, the daughter of Richard T. and Susan Owens.

Upon completion of grade school in Malad, she attended a finishing school at Hamilton, Ohio, and then went into training at the St. Mark’s hospital in Salt Lake City.

She was married to Henry McGee of Salt lake City, July 11, 1906. He died in 1949.

Mrs. McGee was a school nurse in Malad in the early 30’s.

While a resident of Malad, Mrs. McGee gave her services as a nurse very frequently to those in need.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan and Carol, San Francisco; two sons, Pat and Dick McGee, San Francisco and three grandchildren.
