Zephaniah Jones (Birth 11/21 Sep 1824/Death 11 Jun 1883)

Zephaniah Jones was born at Pontypool, Trevethin, Monmouthshire, England on either September 11 or 21, 1824. His parents were Jemimia or Jemina Davis and John Jones.

He married Amy Amelia Morris July 5, 1845 at Bedwelty Parrish. Together, they had six children. She died in 1857.

He married Caroline Thomas February 13, 1859 at Mynyddislwyn, Monmouthshire, Wales. They had six children together, plus he adopted Caroline’s daughter Catherine Mathilda. They immigrated to the United States in 1863 making their way to Willard, Box Elder, Utah Territory. Caroline died in 1869.

He then married Mrs. Mary Williams on July 1, 1870 at Willard. He moved to the St. John area of Malad shortly afterward, but Mary remained at Willard.

He married Phoebe Davis at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah Territory April 20, 1874. Zephaniah and Phoebe added four children to the family.

Zephaniah died at Malad, Oneida, Idaho Territory June 11, 1883 at the age of 59. He is buried in the St. John Cemetery, Oneida, Idaho.

Survivors include his wife Phoebe and the following children: Sons, Joseph, Albert Davis, Ephraim Edward, John, George Wilford, Samuel Davis and daughters, Emma Amelia, Catherine Mathilda, Mary Blanche, Rhoda Louise and Phoebe Caroline.
