FIFIELD, MATTHEW GLEN, March 31, 1898 – June 8, 1991
LOGAN, UTAH – Matthew Glen Fifield, 93, of North Logan, Utah, formerly of Rockland and Idaho Falls, died June 8, 1991 at Logan of natural causes.
He was born march 31, 1898 at Weston to William Phelps and Amorett Allen Fifield. He grew up in a family of 12 at Rockland.
In 1923 he married Bessie Elizabeth Quinn in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She died January 29, 1946. He later married Leah Hale in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She died December 31, 1981. He farmed at Rockland and Pocatello, and was later employed by the Union Pacific Railroad.
After retiring in 1956, he served a full time mission for the LDS Church. He then moved to Idaho Falls, where he served as an officiator in the Idaho Falls LS Temple and worked on the temple grounds. He was honored by the City Council for his grounds beautification project.
He had lived with a son in North Ogden since 1982 and enjoyed attending activities at the Adult Day Care Center of Sunshine Terrace.
Survivors include his children, Glen Fifield of North Logan; Marvin Fifield of Logan; Mrs. max (Allene) George of Roy, UT; Mrs. Brad (Sue) Richardson of Logan; and Bill Fifield of Idaho Falls; a brother and four sisters: Melvin Fifield of Clearfield, UT; Mae Peck of Aberdeen; Inis Butler and Mrs. Lee (Anna) May, both of Rockland, and Mrs. Vaughn (Ilah) Morgan of American Falls; 28 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday in the North Logan LDS 10th Ward, with Bishop Richard Bradford officiating. Burial will be at Pocatello in Mountain View Cemetery.
