Mrs. Sarah Jane (Janie) Evans, age 83, died at the Oneida County Hospital of natural causes.
Mrs. Evans was born January 23, 1887 in Hyrum, Utah to William Thomas and Mary Evans Jones. She received her education in the Malad schools. On December 25, 1905 at Malad, she married Daniel K. Evans and the marriage was solemnized September 23, 1923 in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Evans died January 3, 1960.

Mrs. Evans was a former president of the YWMIA and work director in the Malad First Ward Relief Society for several years. She was also a member of the Oneida Chapter, American War Mothers, and a former member of the Syringa Club.

Surviving are a son, Daniel J., Las Vegas; five daughters, Mrs. Mae Williams, Mrs. Warren (Kate) Edwards; Mrs. Bland (Ardella) Williams, Malad; Mrs. Lewis (Anna) Jones, Logan; Mrs. Orlin (Myrle Hess, Long Beach, CA; 34 grandchildren; 78 great grandchildren.
