Services Held For Mrs. Asay

Funeral services for Mrs. Zina Hoopes Reay Asay, 72, were held Monday at the Malad Second LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Max King officiating.

Mrs. Asay died of natural causes about 8 p.m. Saturday at the Oneida Hospital.

At the funeral home, LaMar Hoopes offered the family prayer. At the chapel, prayers were offered by John Blaisdell and Ben W. Call. Speakers were Bishop King, who read the obituary; Dr. Thos. W. Richards and William H. Rutter, Musical numbers were a duet, Wanda Napier and Opal Peck; solo, Ardis Jones, Accompanist was Myra Jean John and prelude and postlude music was played by Marteal Hendricks. Flowers were arranged by the Second Ward Relief Society, Pearl Jones, president. Casket bearers were Delman Asay, Kent Asay, Karl West, Rulen Bowman, Walt Shaw and Verdie Wharton.

Interment was at Thatcher, Arizona.

Mrs. Asay was born July 30, 1891 at St. Davis, Arizona to John and Mary Horne Hoopes. She was married to J. H. Asay, April 4, 1958 in Salt Lake City. She was an active member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are her husband; sons, daughters, Thurland, Milton, both Safford, Ariz., Owen, Clifton, Ariz.; Elmo, Henderson, Nev.; Mrs. Mary Lue Gove, Lincoln, Nebraska; Mrs. Florence Christmas, Phoenix, Ariz; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, two sisters.
