Bill Hill Jr.
DOWNEY – William F. “Bill” Hill Jr., 54, died Tuesday, February 3, 1987, in Downey following an apparent heart attack.
He was born December 12, 1932 in Malad, to William F. and Virginia Camp Hill. He was reared and educated in Malad, graduating from Malad High School. He also attended the Idaho State University vo-tech school.
He served in the Army during the Korean conflict where he was stationed in Alaska.
He married Rose Lee Williams November 27, 1959 in Malad. He farmed for many years in the Malad and Marsh Valley areas.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Malad Valley Irrigation Board.
He is survived by his wife of Downey; two sons, William F “Bill” Hill III and James Hill, both of Downey; three daughters, Barbara J. Hill and Bonnie K. Hill, both of Salt Lake City, and Brenda Hill, Downey; his mother of Malad; and two sisters, Lois Morrow, California City, California, and Eunice Mooreland, North Highlands, California.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 7, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. in the Downey 1st Ward Chapel. Bishop Nor man Spencer officiated
Casket bearers were William F. Hill, III; Ervin Gilbert, Ronald Wakley, Randy Wakley, James L. Hill, David Deschamps, Blair Wakley, Jeff Wakley, Jeffery Williams, Michael Williams and Jerry Williams.
Honorary pall bearers were Leon. Pratt, Kay Gibbs, Gerald Williams, Gary Hill, Elton Ashton, Coy Pratt, Hugh Johnson, Gary Duncan, John C. Hill and Louis Dredge.
The Family Prayer was offered by John J. Williams.
Prelude and postlude-music was played by Laura Godfrey. Kay Dean Williams gave the invocation.
Ila May John told his life sketch and a family tribute, Sandy Larson performed a vocal solo “That Silver Haired Daddy Of Mine”. She was accompanied by Betty Ann Stuart.
Louis Dredge spoke, followed by The Wynn John family performing “O’ My Father” and accompanied by Mary Ann Deem. Remarks were offered by Bishop Willis Barfuss.
Sandy Larson then sang “Somewhere My Love”, accompanied by Betty Ann Stuart. The benediction was given by Alan Goodey
Compassionate service and care of the flowers was by the Relief Society Sisters of the Downey 1st Ward and Malad 4th Ward.
Concluding services were at the St. John Cemetery where Robert Edwards offered the Dedicatory prayer.
Military rites were performed by the Malad and Downey American Legion Posts
