FORMER RESIDENT’S HUSBAND FOUND DEAD

Blackfoot — William A. Virtue, 49, accountant for Phillip Petroleum at the AEC, died in his apartment in the Blackfoot Motel on South Broadway early Thursday morning of an apparent heart attack, according to Coroner Earl Rogers who was called to investigate when the body was discovered by the motel operators about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Virtue had lived in Blackfoot for the past four years, coming here from Idaho Falls. The family had formerly lived in Boise. He was born a Chicopee, Mass., May 5, 1909, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Virtue. He married Ruth Dudley Dec 24, 1945 at Malad. His early education was at Springfield Mass. He has been employed at the AEC for the past seven years. He was a member of St Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his widow Mrs. Ruth Virtue and a son and daughter: Ann Marie 12, and William Michael 10, of Blackfoot; his mother, Mrs. Helen Virtue, and two sisters: Mrs. John E. (Mary) Mahoney; and Mrs. John (Imelda) Harrington, all of Springfield, Mass.

The body was shipped to Springfield, Mass. for burial.

He was an honorable discharged veteran of World War II, having served as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force with the 426th AAF base unit. He enlisted Oct. 31, 1942, and was separated from the service, Oct. 26, 1945.

Mr. and Mrs. Moses Dudley spent the weekend at Blackfoot.
