Willard Morse Anderson

Willard Morse Anderson 78, of Malad, died Monday, June 26, 1989 at the Oneida County Nursing Home.

He was born June 17, 1911 in Samaria to David Hutton and Maria Morse Anderson.

He was raised and educated in Malad and graduated from Malad High School and later attended Utah State University.

He married Phyliss Ruger Jan. 23, 1937. They later divorced.

He married Rhea Wiscomb in June of 1960. She died in 1981.

As a young man he farmed in Samaria. He later worked for the Ogden Standard Examiner for 23 years, and was also a mail carrier in Malad. He was employed at Travel Lodge and Little America in Salt Lake City prior to his retirement.

He is survived by one son, Arthus “Art” Anderson, Salt Lake City; two daughters, Carla Nielsen, Ogden; Mrs. James (Vicki) Fonnesbeck, Howell; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, David M. Anderson, Ogden; Richard M. Anderson, Avard M. Anderson and Morse Anderson, all of Orem, Utah; three sisters, Grace Kuykendall, Silver Springs, Nev.; Mrs. Alfred (Marie) Lee, Provo; and Hannah Harris, Whittier, Calif.; Carol Bennett, Fullerton, Calif.; Evelyn Brown, Denver, Colo.; and Margaret Olsen, Salt Lake City; and 14 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at noon on Thursday at the Malad LDS Fourth Ward Chapel with Bishop Brent Evanson officiating. Friends may call at the Benson – Horsley Funeral home Thursday prior to services. Burial will be in the Samaria Cemetery.
