Wendell Hurd

Wendell Hurd, 83, died Tuesday, May 25, 1993 at McKay-Dee Hospital of a heart condition.

He was born Nov. 2, 1909 in Stone, Idaho, a son of Lorenzo M and Eleanor C Kelley Hurd.

He married Nina V. Lewis on July 3, 1939 in Burley, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was an active member of the Ogden 28th LDS Ward where he was a High Priest. He served in many capacities within the Church. He had sung with the Swanee Singers in Salt Lake City and was a member of many ward choirs.

Mr. Hurd was a farmer, a miner, a construction worker and had worked on the Grand Cooley and Boulder Dams. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1972 after 30 years of service as a jet engine mechanic.

He was loved and adored by his family.

Surviving are his wife of Ogden; one son and two daughters, John L. and wife Carolyn Hurd, Mantua, Utah; Mrs. Donald (Joan) Baggett; Las Vegas, Nev.’ Mrs. Kraig (Wendy) Wiser, Ogden; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Gerald and wife Marjorie Hurd, Ogden; Marvin and wife Ruby Hurd, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Alberta Wilcox, Riverside, Utah; Mrs. Isabel Hamp, California.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Sheldon H Gundersen of the Ogden 28th Ward officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 to 10:45 a.m.
