Wayne Worthe Thomas

Wayne Worthe Thomas passed away in the most beautiful way possible…..holding the hand of the love of his life Geralyn Rae Ellis Thomas on the 26th of November 2014. Wayne was born on the 23rd of October 1929 to William (Bill) Thomas and LaRue Ann Rose Thomas in Malad City, Idaho. He had an interesting and lively childhood being raised in the hotel his grandfather built. He learned hard work at a young age where he ball hopped, cooked, cleaned, did maintenance and shined shoes. He also played trumpet in a dance band. He earned more money shining shoes and playing in the band than the average adult man at that time. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission. He also enlisted during the Korean War and served for 3 years in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps. Wayne attended 3 universities: Utah State, University of Utah and Brigham Young University where he finally found Geralyn from Pomona, California. He said it took 3 schools before he found the woman he would marry for time and all eternity. They were married on the 22nd of August 1958 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Geralyn wanted 13 children and Wayne compromised at 10. They were blessed with 7 beautiful children. Wayne loved to write and several of his stories were made into scripts. He worked many years in the movie industry which he greatly enjoyed. He was a dreamer and true entrepreneur at heart and was involved in various endeavors later in his life. His family was his greatest joy and accomplishment. He loved to hear his wife, children and grandchildren play the piano and sing. Wayne preferred hotels to camping but survived the many camping trips so he could be with his family and of course, enjoy his 2nd passion…fishing. His children all have fond memories fishing with their Dad. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Geralyn, his children Denise (Lee) Macklin, Wayne Worthe Thomas II, Darcelle (Jeff) Johnson, Danielle (engaged to Duke Noteman) Patterson, Damon Blake Thomas, Derek William Thomas and D’Loni Thomas, 23 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister GayAnn Tori Branson and brother David Kem Thomas. He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings: Wanda LaRue Thomas, William DeVon Thomas and Shirley Thomas Wagner. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at 11:00 am.
