Wayne L. Wakley

MALAD – Wayne L. Wakley, 65, of Malad, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 1998 at his home of cancer.
He was born Nov. 22, 1933 in Malad, a son of Fred and Edna Thomas Wakley. He was reared in Downey, Idaho, and Garland and Ogden, Utah. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955, and was stationed in Germany.
For many years he hauled cattle for Slim Whittle, and also worked for D.L. Evans Farms. He later was employed as a sheet metal mechanic for Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Following his retirement in 1990, he worked in maintenance for the Oneida County Hospital.
He was married to Nellie Stoddard Hall on January 20, 1969. Following her death in 1984 he married Myrl Willie in 1985.
He was a member of the LDS Church, and was active in the American Legion, where he was a faithful member of the Honor Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Myrl, of Malad; a sister, Carlene (Jim) Patterson of Slaterville, Utah; a brother, Leo (Marilu) Wale of Blackfoot, Idaho; two stepdaughters, Pinkie Schwartz of Malad, and Julie (Rod) Elmore of Brigham City, Utah; two stepsons, Jay (Christine) Willie of Syracuse, Utah, and Robb (Teresa) Willie of St. George, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Zan.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (this evening), Dec. 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday an hour before the service. Burial will be in the Downey City, Idaho Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones No. 65.
