Warren Ashton dies at Ogden

MALAD – Warren Verner Ashton, 78, Malad, died Thursday (20 May 1982) in an Ogden hospital.

He was born February 10, 1904, at Woodruff, the 12th of 14 children born to Hiram and Emma John Ashton. After his graduation from high school in Malad, he attended Brigham Young College in Logan, Utah.

He married Birdie Leora Bair June 5, 1929, in the Logan LDS Temple. She died June 24, 1976.

Most of his adult life was spent ranching in Cherry Creek, south of Malad. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held the office of high priest. He also served in the Elder’s Quorum Presidency and as a stake missionary and ward clerk, holding the latter position for 27 years.

He is survived by three sons, Warren J., Kenneth D. and Donald L., all of Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Harvey W. Ashton, Ogden, Utah.

Funeral services were held at noon Monday in the Cherry Creek LDS Chapel with Bishop Donald S. Vaughan officiating. Burial was in the Richmond, Utah cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Benson Horsley Funeral Home, Malad.
