Wallace Kay Whitehead

Our beloved father, Wallace K. Whitehead passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home following an extended illness with loved ones by his side. He was born September 17, 1923 in Buhl, ID a son of John William Hubbard and Edith Marie Hubbard. He attended schools in Topaz and graduated from Lava High school in 1941. On December 13, 1941 he married the woman of his dreams, Alice M. Avery in Topaz, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Bishop, various positions in the Stake organizations and any other areas where he was needed at anytime. He was employed by the Soil Conservation Service then as Postmaster in Lava Hot Springs where he retired after 25 years. He knew the value of hard work and was always willing to help anyone in need with a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his loving family, a son Kent (Kim) Whitehead, four daughters- Shirlene (Jim) Brown of Lava Hot Springs, Janet Smith (Bob Rish) Licon, Faye Whitehead of Pocatello, Shanna Morrison of Lava Hot Springs as well as 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Alice M. 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 grandsons, Frankie and Spencer, a great grandson Kasey. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Lava Hot Springs Chapel with Bishop Lynn Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Lava Ward Chapel and on Thursday from 11:30a.m -12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
