Waldo J. Blaisdell

Waldo J. Blaisdell, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at home on August 22, 2004 at the age of 88.

Waldo was born October 8, 1915 to James William and Ann Iona Blaisdell in Holbrook, Idaho. He graduated from Malad High School and Utah State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science.

Waldo taught school and later worked for the U.S. Government. He was then drafted during World War II. He served his country and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Lois Lennon March 11, 1944 in Watervliet, New York, and they were sealed for time and eternity in 1960 in the Logan Temple.

Waldo spent much of his life as a farmer and rancher in Holbrook. He loved working the land and watching things grow. It was the perfect place for he and Lois to raise their family.

Waldo was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including Bishop, High Councilman, and in the Spanish Extraction Program with his wife, Lois. They also served a full-time mission in Long Island and Bermuda.

He also served his community as a County Commissioner and as a member of the Oneida County Hospital Board and Library Board.

Waldo is survived by Lois, his wife of 60 years; children: James (Cathy) Blaisdell, Ogden, Utah; Patricia (Richard) Fitt, Orem, Utah; Kevin (Debi) Blaisdell, Garland, Utah; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Waldo was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orlan; a sister, LaPreal Ferris; and a granddaughter, Courtney Fitt.

Funeral services will be held August 28, 2004 in the Malad Fourth Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones, Past #65.
