Viora Morgan passed away peacefully May 5, 2009, at the Downey Care Center in Downey, Idaho. She was 99 ½ years old.
Viora was born in Malad, Idaho on October 13, 1909. She was the second of six children born to David W. and Leah Davis Morgan, and the last surviving child.
Viora was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, aunt and great-aunt to her extended family who loved her dearly. She always remembered Christmas, birthdays and special events.
Viora was a loving care giver throughout her life. She cared for her mother, her aunt Pearl Davis and her sister, Delila Stanger, during the last years of their lives. Her unselfish and devoted service was a blessing in the lives of her friends and family.
Viora spent most of her life in Malad. She began working at the AT&T (former Mountain Bell) office while in high school. She was promoted to Chief Operator in 1954. When the Malad Exchange converted to dial operations, she transferred to the Pocatello exchange and continued to work as a long distance operator until her retirement after 41 years of service.
After retiring Viora loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Hawaii, California, Utah, Texas, Colorado and other areas in the United States. Her great-niece and nephews remember road trips with Aunt Viora fondly. She had a spirit of adventure that made things exciting and fun.
Viora is survived by her sister-in-law, Velda Morgan (Joseph), 10 nieces and nephews, 55 great-nieces and great-nephews, and 112 great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David W. Morgan and Leah Davis Morgan; siblings; Delila Stanger (George), David Morgan (Amy), Izola Price (Earl), Joseph Morgan (Velda, still living) and Orville Morgan (Marie).
Her family wishes to express their gratitude to those who cared for her during the last years of her life, with a special thanks to Kayleen Parke and the staff at Downey Care Center, Hospice Alliance Staff and the Malad Nursing Home. Their love and concern for Viora was evident and we are grateful for their loving care of her.
Funeral services were held, Saturday, May 9, in the Horsley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
