Vernon A. Jones

Vernon A. Jones, 90, of Malad, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2001, in the Oneida County Long Term Care Facility, of natural causes.
He was born September 27, 1911, in Malad, Idaho, a son of John A. and Mary Adams Jones. He was raised and educated in Malad. He married Zelma Atkinson December 2, 1931. Their marriage was later sealed on June 5, 1935 in the Salt Lake Temple. Zelma died on November 16, 1989. He then married Carol Olson, November 8, 1990.
He was a well-known and respected farmer and rancher in Malad and Downey. Vernon had a great love for horses, dancing, and baseball. He always played first base. He always felt his biggest accomplishment was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Olson Jones; one daughter, Connie (Ned) Lewis, Malad; two sons, Vernon Ronley (Debra) Jones and Randy A. (Jane) Jones, all of Malad; two stepsons, Kenneth (Debbie) Olson, Sandy, Utah and Michael (Lynette) Olson, Afton, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Zelma, parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at the new Stake Center in Malad with burial at the Malad Cemetery. Funeral services were under the direction of Horsley Funeral Homes,
