Vern LeRoy Buffaloe

POCATELLO – Vern LeRoy Buffaloe, 57, 1660 Pocatello Creek Road passed away Sunday, December 20, 1998 at a local hospital following an illness. He was born June 26, 1941 in Pocatello, the son of Harry LeRoy and Afton Brown Bullaloe. Vernon attended Pocatello schools and received his Bachelor of Science degree at I.S.U.

He married JoZelle Anderson November 23, 1963 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Vernon served the Idaho National Guard and Reserves for over 31 years. He was an instructor in the Command and General Staff College. He obtained the rank of Lt. Colonel. He also taught band in several schools including Alameda Junior High, Highland High School, Idaho Falls High School, and the Snake River Schools. He was a very good trumpet player and played taps for numerous committal services. He was a member of the City Band as well as other local musical groups.

Surviving him are his wife JoZelle of Pocatello; mother Afton Buffaloe, Pocatello; a son, David LeRoy Buffaloe (wife Cathherine), Germany; sister, Darla J. Bell, Pocatello; brother Darrell J. Buffaloe, Chubbuck and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 26, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Highland 7th Ward Chapel, 2000 S. Fairway with Bishop Jesse Evans officiating. Military rites provided by the combined veterans organizations, V.F.W., American Legion, D.A.V. and the Fleet Reserve will follow services. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time. Interment will be in Restlawn Cemetery. Downard Hansen Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
