Vera May Waters Avery passed away July 10, 2020 at the Edgewood Assisted Living Center in Soda Springs, Idaho. She was born May 25, 1935 in Boise, Ada County, Idaho. She was proceeded in death by her parents Lester and Rosalie Biswell Waters. She had four brothers, Marvin Lyle – deceased, Robert Dean – deceased, Dale (Linda) Waters – Colorado, Lee deceased (Lois). Three sisters, Elma Waters Miles – deceased (Don). Shirley Koester (Ron) Idaho Falls, Idaho and Bonnie Christensen – deceased (Wayne) Missouri.
She married Golden K. Avery on November 14, 1953 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. They remained in Lava on their farm for the rest of their lives. Golden passed away on May 4, 2008.
They have 4 children, Wayne (Patrica Neibaur – deceased,) Tess Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, Norman (Naoma) Payson, Utah, Jeanene Holbrook (Ward) Layton, Utah. George (Marion) Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. 11 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a primary teacher, Sunday school teacher and Relief Society President. She was an avid reader, seamstress and loved to crochet. Vera loved to visit with close friends in the community. She was well known for her homemade bread which was sought out for community socials.
A viewing will be held from 7-8 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Lava Hot Springs Ward Building at 437 West Spring St., Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Please enter the northeast doors, proceed to the Relief Society room for viewing and then exit through the northwest doors. There will not be a reception line due to Covid restrictions.
Funeral services for the family will be held on Friday, July 17 at 11 a.m. in the Lava Hot Springs Ward Chapel with a family gathering for one hour prior.    Burial will follow in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery where all are welcome around 12:15 p.m.
