Vera M. Morrey

Joseph, Utah – Vera M. Morrey, 87, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother died January 13, 1994.

Born August 8, 1906, in Ephraim, Utah, to Andrew Mortensen and Anne Johanne Kjeldsen Mortensen. Married John Eldon Morrey July 10, 1929, in the Manti LDS Temple. He died September 6, 1987.

She graduated from the Snow Academy and the University of Utah. She taught elementary school in Joseph, Elsinore and Monroe from 1926 to retirement. Active in the LDS Church throughout her life, she served as Relief Society president and teacher, ward and stake YWMIA President and Primary Presidency. She was an active DUP officer.

She loved her family both extended and immediate and many dear friends. She was very proud of her heritage.

Survivors include three sons, one daughter and spouses; John R. and (Barbara) Morrey, Bucharest, Romania (LDS Mission President); Anna and (Earl) Gillies, Malad; Russell and (JaNell) Morrey, Midvale; Richard E. and (Cindy) Morrey, Sandy; fifteen grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia E. M. Cowley, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and seven brothers and sisters: Conrad, Algia, Omray, Mabel, Ruby, Rue and Andrew.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 17 in the Joseph LDS Chapel in Elsinore, Utah. Burial was in the Ephraim Cemetery.
