Vera Danise Thomas Grote

Vera Danise Thomas Grote, age 30, died Friday, July 5, 1996 at the University of Utah Medical Center of complications sustained in an automobile accident that occurred April 20, 1996 in Malad City, Idaho. She was born January 13, 1966 in Malad City, Idaho, a daughter of Robert Wayne Thomas and Karen Smith Thomas.

Early childhood was spent in Malad City, Idaho, where she attended and graduated from the Malad schools on the honor roll.

She was a member of the LDS Church, and while growing up was active in many extra-curricular activities, such as music, sports, drill team, and was selected as Miss Spirit in the 1984/85 Malad Junior Miss Pageant.

She married Raymond Lee Grote, Jr. on May 27, 1989 in Reno, Nevada.

She and her husband had lived in Salt Lake City, Utah; Deweyville, Utah; Garland, Utah; and Malad City, Idaho.

She was an excellent vocalist, and shared her talents with many, but most of all with her family, as they were her life. She loved everyone and had no ill feelings toward anyone no matter the situation.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, especially manifested in her spirit and care for anyone whom she came in contact with. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Lee Grote, Jr., two sons, Travis L. Douglas Grote, age 6, and Brady Lee Grote, age 4, and one daughter, DeziRay Lainey Grote, age 9 months; mother, Karen Wharton and stepfather, Kenneth L. Wharton of Malad, Idaho; brothers, Dan R. Thomas and wife, LesLee of Pocatello, Idaho; Robert Shawn Thomas and wife, Tawna of Ogden, Utah; sisters, Lisa Kay Poulsen and husband Tracey of Apple Valley, MN, and Kathryn Alane Morrison and husband Curtis of Malad, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Wayne Thomas in 1969, her maternal grandparents, Alvin and Vera Gleed Smith, and paternal grandfather, Wayne (Little Cowboy) Morgan Thomas.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, July 9, 1996, at noon in the Malad LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, Malad City, Idaho with Bishop Wendell Smith conducting. Burial was at the Malad City Cemetery.
