Velvet Brundage Shearer

Velvet Brundage Shearer born May 20th, 1952, passed away in Logan, Utah, peacefully surrounded by family on November 7th, 2017. Raised in Bountiful, Utah, by George H. and Lucille Matlock Brundage, she was a 1970 graduate of Viewmont High School and a past Job’s Daughters Honored Queen. She attended the University of Utah before marrying Gary Shearer. They later divorced but remained close friends and confidantes. She worked for Qwest phone company and retired after 20+ years of service. She also enjoyed working at Aspen Dental of Cache Valley for the past 5 years. She had a big smile, a big heart for others, and a love of life and adventure as well as many well-loved pets throughout her life. She spent her time singing, crafting, and enjoying nature, family, and friends. She started a photography company and spent countless hours singing in churches and with the Malad Community Choir. In recent years she joined the LDS Church and engaged with her usual gusto, serving in Cub Scouts, primary, and in the temple. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Michael Brundage, and son, Michael Dustin Shearer. She is survived by two nieces, Mikalyn (Bradley) Egan and Collett (David) Draper, great nieces and nephews, as well as great, great nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, Jeanne Brundage, and close friend, Lloyd Bush. Aunt Velvet, you will be missed! Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 11th, at 11:00 am in the Malad Third Ward at 400 North, 200 West, Malad, Idaho, with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Horsley Funeral Homes at 132 West 300 North, Malad. Burial services will take place at 3:00 pm at the Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.
