Velma Mae Denton (granny), 76, of McCammon passed away Friday April 30,2010 peacefully at home with her family at her side. She was born in McCammon to Mable & Lyman Girrard. They lived in Salmon, Id. for one year until they moved to McCammon where she lived till her death. She went to school in McCammon and later married Roy Thomas Denton August 16,1952 in Pocatello,Id.

They had 5 children. Ellis Leroy Girrard Denton (Jackie) of Lochinvar,Au.,Royanna Smith(Daniel)Chubbuck,Id.James Denton(Candy) of tulsa,Ok.Thomas Allan Denton of Pocatello,Id.Nicki Lyn Nelson(Dale) of McCammon. Surving brothers & sisters Ed Girrard (Ethal),Doris Romerill,Jetta Smith,Alice Parks,Ronnie Lewis,Bub Jensen & Idonna Girrard(Marlin)and her very,very,very best friend Janet Roberson(Charles & Little Janet) of Las Vegas,Nv. She had 14 granchildren & 14 great grandchildren.

She enjoyed quilting, the outdoors, gardening, window shopping and fishing. In her latter yrs. she enjoyed traveling and visiting very good friends & spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy,mother Mable,father Lyman,3 brothers Lyman,Lester & Marlin Girrard. One grandaughter Whitney Lynn denton. A special thanks to Creekside Hospice,Elmers cafe,Daneda Hackwhorth and the Mountain View Ward

A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday May 22, 2010 at the Norton Cemetery in McCammon with Bishop Roger Morris Officiating. A luncheon will follow for the family and friends at the McCammon LDS Stake Center. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
