Velma Andrasen

Velma Andrasen, 87, of Boise, formerly of the St. Anthony area, died June 8, 1992, at her home of cancer.
She was born October 8, 1904, at Teton City to Joseph Christian Rasmus and Luella Sedella Bird Andrasen. She attended Schools in St. Anthony. She graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in education. She earned a master’s degree from Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley, Colorado.
Her teaching career spanned 42 years in Malad, St. Anthony, the old Whittier School in Boise, and Boise North Junior High School, where she taught English and reading. She retired in 1968.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and participated in the Hannah Circle and Sojourners Club. She was a member of the state and national education associations, Boise Education Association and Southwestern Idaho Retired Teachers Association. She was past president of the General McConville Auxiliary, No. 3, Department of Idaho Auxiliary, United Spanish War Veterans; a member of the Ada County Democratic Women’s Club, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
Survivors include her twin sister, Venna Andrasen of Boise. She was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral services were held on June 11 at First United Methodist Church in Boise. Burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Chapel in Boise.
