Varsel Leroy Christophersen

Varsel Leroy Christophersen, 87, longtime Malad businessman, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 1998, in th Oneida County Hospital.

He was born April 15, 1911 in Hyde Park, Utah, a son of Peter Leroy and Violet Christophersen. He was raised in the Daniels area and educated in the Malad schools.

Varsel was a lifelong resident of Malad, where he began barbering with his father in 1935. He worked as an apprentice under his father and attended Moler Barber School in Salt Lake City, Utah, graduating in 1936. He served his country during W.W.II. in the armed forces.

Varsel was married to Alice Stuart, an together they had three children: Varsel E. (Pat) of Malad; Mary Alice (Michael) Telford of Malta, Idaho; Robert (Lael) of Malad. His posterity also includes ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Geneva Evans, of River Heights, Utah. Alice passed away in 1986, Varsel married Harriett Chivers July 1997, and she survives him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Udar, one brother, Grant, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral Services were held Monday, December 21, 1998 in the Malad LDS 5th Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
