Troy George Estep

Troy George Estep passed away unexpectedly on Thursday June 16th, 2016 in Malad, City Idaho at the age of 50. Troy was born on August 3, 1965, in Ogden Utah. He was reared and educated in Malad, Idaho, graduating from Malad High School in 1983. He attended Utah State University. While living in Logan he began dating Julie Schwartz and they were married on June 21, 1985. Troy and Julie made their home in Malad. The happy couple was always together and welcomed two sons, Kayden and Dylan. Crowther’ s Reservoir was in their back yard and it was there he taught his boys to fish. Also, he taught them how to hunt and to respect and love the great outdoors. He was happiest in the outdoors especially riding his Harley and Ruckus. Other hobbies included writing poetry, hunting, and spending quality time with his family at his favorite vacationing spot in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Troy’s family has always come first in his life and he spent countless hours when watching the boys’ baseball games and wrestling matches. In September of 2015, Troy became a grandpa to June Ray. Daughter of Kayden (Tiffany). She was the joy of his life. The whole community knew June before she even made her appearance in Malad. Every day he would show pictures of this precious little girl to whomever he met. Troy embodied hard work. He and Julie opened their own business, Reels N Rays, and currently operate Estep Family Lawn Service. Through the years he worked at Lazy Boy, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Bowen Ford, Malad School District, ATK, and Nell J. Redfield Memorial Hospital, where he was working in public relations and marketing. This job was the perfect fit for his social and boisterous personality. He blessed the lives of the residents, patients, co-workers and community by writing and receiving grants, donations, and giving numerous hours of his time promoting the good of this community. He was a member of the Oneida County Deputies Organization and the Nell J Redfield Hospital Foundation. Troy’s personality was bigger than life. He never met a stranger and everyone was his friend. He will be missed by his family, community members and residents of this wonderful valley that he loved so much. Troy is survived by his wife of 31 years, Julie Schwartz Estep; a son Kayden Ray (Tiffany) Estep and granddaughter June Ray, of Pocatello, Idaho; a son Dylan Taylor Estep and fiancé Katherine Vanblaricom, of Malad, Idaho; mother Elaine Mansfield Bohn: In-laws Dennis and Debra Larsen; and numerous family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Kent Estep; stepfather D.D. (Toad) Bohn; Grandparents James and Effie Estep and George and Tekla Mansfield. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS Stake Center, 1250 N. 1100 W. Friends may visit with the family at the church Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
