Tim Delaney

Tim Delaney, a Downey, Idaho resident at the age of 74, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 following a long illness. Tim was born on July 9, 1943 in Driggs, Idaho, son of Paul and Elva Delaney. He was raised and educated in Driggs and was a graduate from Teton High School. Tim served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission from 1962-1964. In 1965, he met Cheryl Moss and was married and sealed in 1966. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage, and he loved his wife and children with all his heart. Tim and Cheryl made their home in several states including Idaho, Ohio, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, California, and returning back to Idaho. His main occupation was a truck driver, and in his retirement years, he was the activities bus driver for Preston High School. While living in Downey, he enjoyed greeting people, making jokes, and teasing just about everyone. He loved his garden, but more than anything else, he LOVED his bacon, hamburgers, pizza, and Pepsi. Tim was an active member of the L.D.S. church and had many active responsibilities including holding the positions of ward clerk, high councilman, and high priest quorum secretary. Tim also served several missions including missions at the Los Angeles and Idaho Falls temples, a couple’s service mission, and an indexing mission. He had a passion and love for family history and genealogy work. He loved the gospel and had a firm belief in our Savior Jesus Christ. Tim was a jokester and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Ann, five children (Joseph Kip, Katherine Lynn, Michael Lane, Kimberly Rae, and Leslie Ann), 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Johnny, his son Patrick Wayne, one grandchild, and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 11 a.m. in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Darby Cemetery in Driggs, Idaho at 3:00 p.m.
