Thomas Griffith Hawkins

Thomas (Tom) G. Hawkins, 61, of Malad, Idaho husband of Shelia Williams Hawkins, passed away on Friday, July 16th, 2010, at his home following a bout with lung cancer.
Thomas Griffith Hawkins was born on January 2, 1949 to Joseph Richard and Thelma Fannie Hawkins in Malad, Idaho. He was the youngest of five children. Tom spent most of his life in Malad, Idaho and at the Hawkins Homestead in Daniels, Idaho.
He married Shelia Kay Williams on March 8, 1968. They were married 42 years. Tom was the beloved father of their two children Joseph Richard Hawkins and Amy Kathleen Hawkins.
Tom attended CSI college for a couple of years before returning to Daniels, ID to run the family farm for a number of years. He also worked at Treasure Packing as a butcher for Bob Treasure and drove semi truck for Hess Pumice.
Tom truly loved being outdoors, especially at the ranch. He loved four-wheeling and snowmobiling with family and friends and puttering in the shed at home. The most recent highlight of his life was becoming a grandpa to his granddaughter Claire.
Tom was a member of the LDS church.
Tom is survived by his wife, Shelia W. Hawkins and two sisters, Audrey Patterson, Malad, Idaho and Thelma Ann Evans, American Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by his daughter, Amy Hawkins, Ogden, UT and his son Joe Hawkins, daughter-in-law Angela Briggs Hawkins and grandchild Claire Virginia Hawkins of Bountiful, UT.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Dale Hawkins and Joe Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 20 at noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 1100 W. 1250 N. Friends may visit with the Hawkins family on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. and Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
There will be another celebration of life for Tom at a later date at the Hawkins Ranch.
