Thomas Calvin Willie

Thomas Calvin Willie, 21, of Malad, Idaho, passed away June 14, 2019, in an accident on the Teton River.

Calvin was born on May 12, 1998, in Logan, Utah, to Tom and Amber Willie. He is the oldest of six children. His loves were football, reading, Island Park, friends, and especially family. He spent most of his life in Malad working on the farm with his dad, Grandpa Tim, and Uncle Kirk.

Calvin graduated from Malad High School in 2016. While in high school, he was involved in football, wrestling and student government. He served a mission in the Arkansas, Bentonville Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the elders he served with and the people of Missouri and Arkansas. He especially loved his McDonald County High School Wrestling team he helped coach while there. He came home with an incredible love for people, farming, and wrestling.

After returning home, Calvin started school at Brigham Young University – Idaho, majoring in Ag-Business. He had a great time with both the amazing friends he met in Rexburg and his good buddies from Malad. Calvin came home often on the weekends to spend time with his family.

Calvin is survived by his parents, Tom and Amber Willie, of Malad; his sisters Raychel Don and Maggie Emma Willie; and his brothers Joseph Arnold, Samuel Carl, and Jack Timothy Willie. He is also survived by his grandmother, Julie Willie of Malad, and his grandparents Jay and Kenna Hurren of Weston, and his great-grandmother Emo Lou Parry of Malad. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calvin was preceded in death by his grandpa, Tim Willie; his great-grandpa Thomas Parry; and his great-grandparents Carl and Carol Dawn Willie, Kenneth and Dona Hartle, and Wendell and Martha Hurren.

Funeral services will be held for Calvin on Friday, June 28, at the Malad Stake Center, 1250 North 1100 West, at 12:00 noon. A viewing will be held on Thursday night, June 27, also at the Stake Center, from 7–9 p.m., and then again on Friday morning from 10- 11:30 a.m.  Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
