Terry Rae Albert

Montana girl killed in car accident Friday

A Ricks College coed, Terry Rae Albert, 19, of Helena, Mont., was killed about 10:30 Friday morning when the Volkswagen in which she was a passenger rolled over near the Deep Creek Interchange on Interstate Highway 15 four miles north of Malad.

Her death brings the 1973 total to four, one under 1972. Three persons, Mr. and Mrs. Sherill Bell, Rexburg, and William Ulrich, 19 Idaho Falls, were killed in a head-on crash Feb. 11th about 10 miles south of Malad.

Miss Albert was attempting to roll down the window by the driver to toss out an apple core, and was having difficulty in lowering it. The driver, Susan Elizabeth Irving, Salt Lake, took her eyes of the road momentarily to assist Miss Albert, and the vehicle veered to the left off the edge of the southbound lane. She swerved the vehicle back onto the pavement, and it rolled over three and a half times, throwing out the victim and two other passengers, Lola Jane Ringwood, Salt Lake, and Kevin Romick, Hayward, Calif. The driver and a fifth passenger, Debbie Davenport, Salt Lake, remained in the vehicle. They are all 18 years old. The group was enroute to Salt Lake City.

They were taken to Oneida Hospital for treatment. Miss Irving was transferred to Primary Children’s Hospital, Salt Lake; Mr. Romick to a Pocatello hospital; Miss Ringwood to LDS Hospital, Salt Lake, and Miss Davenport was released.
