Stella Baker Duncan

Pocatello – Stella Duncan, 93, Pocatello, died Saturday morning, July 16 2005, at a local health-care center.

She was born on December 23, 1911, at Malad, Idaho to Ira and Annie Laura Knighton Baker. Stella lived on the family farm at Holbrook as a child, moving to Malad, where she completed her schooling.

She married William John Henry Sanger at Twin Falls, Idaho, on January 23, 1938, where they made their home. One son, William Frederic was born to them in 1942.

They moved to Pocatello in 1952 and Mr. Sanger preceded her in death in October of 1955. Her son William Frederic preceded her in death in 1978.

Stella was the last surviving member of her family. She was member of the Central Christian Church, Ivy Rebekah Lodge No. 23, I.O.O.F. Chapter No. 288 AARP and the Hospital Auxiliary.

She married Dale L. Duncan in October of 1979 at Pocatello, where they made their home. They spent much of their time traveling together, spending their last 14 winters in Yuma, Arizona, a seasonal home for them. Dale preceded Stella in death on November 2, 2001 at Pocatello, where he was a lifelong resident.

She is survived y a granddaughter, Margaret Sanger; step-children, Robert Duncan and Carolyn Knowles and their children, Scott Duncan, Brian Knowles and Alison Knowles.

Funeral services are scheduled on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Chapel, 431 North 15th Ave. Pocatello, with Nancy Wall of the Central Christian Church conducting. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be given to the Central Christian Church Endowment Fund, 918 East Center Street, Pocatello, Idaho 83201.
