Services held for Mrs. Anderson

SAMARIA – Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 20th, at Logan, for Mrs. Sophia Morse Anderson, who died Oct. 16th at Logan. She was a former resident of Samaria. Mrs. Anderson was 89 years of age.

Bishop Gordon Haws of the 4th Ward conducted the services which were as follows: family prayer by Bob Roberts; organ prelude and postlude, Marianne Hill; invocation, Roger Haderlie; remarks, Bishop Gordon Haws; vocal solo, Nellie Leishman; speaker, Bishop Newell Cahoon; organ selection, Marianne Hill; speaker, Andrew Johansen; vocal duet, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Thomson; benediction, Spencer Hawkins.

Casket bearers were grandsons: Lewis Roberts, Darrell Hawkins, Scott Freeman, Jack Lott, Perry Langston and Brent Freeman. Flowers were cared for by the 4th Ward Relief Society.

Mrs. Anderson was born June 22, 1880, at Samaria, the daughter of William E. and Margaret Evans Morse. She married James R. Hawkins in the Logan LDS Temple March 17, 1898. He died and she married Peter Anderson July 20, 1915. He died.

Mrs. Anderson was an active member of the LDS Church. She is survived by the following: two sons, Leland Hawkins, Logan; Peter Anderson, Helena, Mont.; five daughters, Mrs. C. S. (Vera) Roberts, Mrs. Edwin (Marjorie) Ivie, Etna, Wyoming; Mrs. Jack (Sarabell) Freeman, Logan; Mrs. Edgar (Shirley) Langston, Harlowton, Mont.; Mrs. Byron (Ruth) Haderlie, Brazil; S. A., and a sister, Mrs. Lewis (Sara) Williams, Renton, Wash. Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery where Irvin Hawkins dedicated the grave.

Those attending the funeral from here were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin M. Davis, Rae F. Williams, Mrs. Joe E. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Lew Waldron, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Evans, Mrs. Ray Hill , Waldorf Morse, Margaret Camp, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Richards, Will Moon, Sara Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. M. Jones and Margaret Peterson, Esther Williams, Eliza John and Lila Harris called at the mortuary.

Lunch was served by the nieces and Relief Society at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Evans for relatives after the interment.
